Day 1:
In the afternoon we will pick you up from your hotel to start our tour.
The city tour begins at the Cathedral where you will see decorations and displays of gold altarpieces as well as portraits from the art of Cusco School. Later we will visit the Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzman where you will see the ruins of what was the Temple of the Sun, better known as Q’oricancha.
Continuing with the tour you will visit archaeological sites including the archaeological complexes of Qenqo, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Fort of Saqsayhuaman. Constructed strategically on a hill with a view of the city of Cusco, its huge walls of rock were incredibly carved and constructed with perfect precision. Some of the rocks are over 9 feet tall and weigh more than 100 tons.
After visiting this last point of visit, we will transfer you to your hotel.
Day 2
Today in the morning we will go to your hotel to start our excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where we will be able to appreciate different ecological levels to understand where and how the Andean man domesticated plants and animals to obtain an improvement in their production. such as potatoes, corn, quinoa, alpaca, llama, among others.
During our excursion we will be part of history in the different Archaeological Parks throughout this valley such as Pisaq and Ollantaytambo.
PISAQ
The Pisaq Archaeological site is located 30 km northeast of the city of Cusco, in the district of Pisaq, province of Calca, Cusco region (3346 m / 10977 feet).
Currently, Pisaq is one of the most important Archaeological sites in the region. Possibly its name derives from a bird that was very common in this area known as Pisaqa, which is a Partridge; some authors insinuate that Pisaq was designed in representation of this bird “La Perdiz” which in turn symbolized the local fauna.
Currently in the colonial town of Pisaq there is a picturesque craft market that contains very important artistic expressions such as textiles, goldsmiths, paintings, silverware, among others. Thus becoming a mandatory stop for visitors to take home a unique memory of their visit to the Cusco region.
OLLANTAYTAMBO
The Ollantaytambo Archaeological site is located 70 km northwest of the city of Cusco, in the Ollantaytambo district, Urubamba province, Cusco region (2800 m / 9186 feet).
Ollantaytambo is a set of pre-Inca and Inca constructions, the highlight of this Archaeological site is the urban model designed by Andean cultures with the distribution of streets, squares, platforms, water channels that run through the urban area; Ollantaytambo is known as the last living Inca city since its inhabitants still live in the houses that their ancestors used half a century ago.
Ollantaytambo becomes a mandatory stop for all visitors traveling to Machupicchu by train.
That is why we will stop at the station in order to board the Expedition tourist train, which will take us to Machupicchu Pueblo (2040 m / 7000 feet). At the train station of this town our staff will be waiting for you.
Day 3
Today we will leave the hotel in the morning to the bus station where we will board the bus that will take us to the llaqta of Machu Picchu (2450 m / 8000 feet), the “Lost City of the Incas”. This complex is considered a masterpiece of Inca architecture, a complete settlement with different neighborhoods, squares, streets, buildings, astronomical observatories and terraces, built in the middle of tropical vegetation and rediscovered on July 24, 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham. After the guided tour and the remarkable photos, we will go down to Machupicchu Pueblo where you can find some restaurants of local cuisine for your lunch and later we will board the return train to the town of Ollantaytambo where the transport that will take us to the imperial city of Cusco will wait for us, overnight in Cusco.
